You've invested in quality skincare. You've read the ingredient lists. You know what each product does.
But when you stand in front of the mirror with five bottles lined up, you freeze.
Which one goes first? Does the order even matter? What if I'm doing this wrong?
You're not alone. Most people assume skincare works the same way regardless of order. They apply products randomly, and wonder why their expensive serums don't deliver results.
Here's the truth: order matters more than you think.
And once you understand the simple rule behind it, everything clicks into place.
The Rule: Thinnest to Thickest, Water Before Oil
Skincare layering isn't complicated. It follows one basic principle:
Apply the thinnest, most water-based products first. Finish with the thickest, most oil-based products last.
Why? Because lightweight products penetrate skin. Heavy products create a barrier on top.
If you apply oil first, you've just sealed your skin. Nothing else can get through. Your serum, your treatments, your actives, they're all sitting on top of that oil barrier, doing nothing.
But if you apply products in the right order, each layer builds on the last. Thin products absorb. Thick products seal everything in.
The Beauty From Bees Skincare Routine
Here's how to layer our skincare line for best results:
Step 1: Cleanse
Product: Vitamin C Face Cleanser
Our Vitamin C Face Cleanser is pH-balanced (5.0) to match your skin's natural acidity. It cleanses deeply without stripping, thanks to Coco Glucoside (gentle coconut-derived cleanser) and probiotics that support your microbiome.
Use a dime-sized amount on damp skin. Massage gently over face and neck. Rinse thoroughly.
Your skin is now prepped and ready.
Step 2: Spritz
Product: Face Spritz
Face Spritz balances your skin's pH after cleansing and creates the ideal damp surface for serums to penetrate. Damp skin absorbs actives better than dry skin. Water opens pathways for ingredients to sink in deeper.
Spritz generously over face and neck immediately after cleansing. Don't let your skin dry.
Step 3: Serum (Morning)
Product: Day Serum
While your skin is still damp from the spritz, apply 2-3 drops of Day Serum.
Day Serum protects and brightens with triple probiotics, hyaluronic acid, squalane, and lactic acid. It's lightweight and water-based, which is why it goes on before oil.
Press gently into damp skin. The moisture helps pull actives deeper.
Step 3: Serum (Evening)
Product: Night Serum
At night, swap Day Serum for Night Serum.
Night Serum supports your skin's natural repair process with 10% lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, probiotics, and seaweed extract. Apply 2-3 drops to damp skin after spritzing.
This is when your skin does its deepest work—cell regeneration, collagen production, barrier repair. Night Serum gives it the tools it needs.
Step 4: Oil
Product: Face Oil
Oil always goes last.
Face Oil seals everything in. It creates a protective barrier that traps moisture and actives underneath, preventing them from evaporating throughout the day or night.
Our Face Oil contains olive squalane (single molecule, absorbs instantly), marula seed oil, argan kernel oil, and pomegranate seed oil. It's nourishing but lightweight, no greasy residue.
Apply 2-4 drops over your serum. Press gently into the skin.
This is the final seal. Everything you've layered underneath is now locked in.
Step 5: Exfoliate (Weekly)
Product: Exfoliate Powder
1-2 times per week, after cleansing, mix a small amount of Exfoliate Powder with water (or your Face Cleanser) and massage gently over your face. Rinse and pat dry.
Step 6: Radiance Powder
Product: Radiance Powder
1-2 times per week, after exfoliating, mix the Radiance Powder with water to create a paste, massage onto the face, leave for 1-5 minutes, and rinse. Instant glow.
After masking, continue with your routine: Face Spritz → Serum → Face Oil
The Takeaway
You don't need 15 products. You need the right products, applied in the right order.
Morning: Vitamin C Face Cleanser → Face Spritz → Day Serum → Face Oil
Evening: Vitamin C Face Cleanser → Face Spritz → Night Serum → Face Oil
Weekly: Exfoliate Powder and Radiance Powder (1-2x/week)
That's it. Simple, effective, and designed to work with your skin's biology.
