But, What's With The Beeswax?

You know we love our bees, and everything they do for us! We love the way they pollenate our plants. We love a little honey on our toast. But mostly, we love the way their beeswax works in our skin and hair products! Beauty From Bees is proudly cruelty free, and we take great pride in knowing that the products we use don't cause harm to the hives that provide our wax!

Beeswax is a by-product of honey production. Bees produce excess honey in their wax honeycombs which can be taken by beekeepers without affecting the colony. Encouraging comb renewal is an important part of colony health. Honey bees prefer to lay their eggs and rear their young in fresh comb. By harvesting excess honey and honeycomb, beekeepers are making space in the hive for this to occur so with the excess you render the beeswax.

Smart and ethical beekeepers, like we ones we source our beeswax from, leave the bees enough honey to nibble on over the winter and aren’t technically taking off the comb - they’re taking the excess.  So, that excess is fine for you to enjoy spread over your toast or, in our case, use to help make our products even more glorious!

But, why? What's the point? What does beeswax do for our bodies?

Beeswax is actually really great for your skin and hair! This waxy goodness is a natural humectant - a substance that attracts water. That makes it the perfect addition to our body and hair products, because it helps to lock in the moisture! It also works to create a natural barrier on our hair and skin, keeping the benefits in, while helping to keep the harmful things out!

You'll find beeswax in so many of our products, including serums, shampoos, deodorant, balms and more! We're all about bringing out the very best in your skin, naturally.

Take care of the bees, and they'll take care of us! Leave dandelions and clovers in your grass to give the bees a tasty snack, avoid the use of pesticides and weed killers, grow a garden that's filled with flowers, and make sure that you're always sourcing your products from makers who choose ethical sources for their beeswax!
